Earthquake Simulation

Built an interactive component using Vue 2 and Grapes.js to simulate the design and implementation of an earthquake warning system. Students could choose a layout of sensors for their alarm network, and test their effectiveness against several earthquakes with different epicenter locations. The sensors were able to respond according to which sensor intersected with the earthquake waves first, with response time and casualty numbers responding appropriately.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Position: Took over as lead developer
  • Responsibilities:
    • Collaborated with UX designer, other developers, and artists to ensure the component matched Figma designs and performed appropriately in the grapes.js ecosystem
    • Ensured cross-browser compatibility and optimized performance
    • Conducted testing and debugging to maintain a high-quality user experience

Technologies & Tools:

  • HTML, CSS
  • Vue 2
  • grapes.js
  • d3.js
  • Git (Version Control)
